My dgt went to her 20 wk US and Ian was diagnosed with anchroplasia. She is now being seen by a Maternal-Fetal Specialist who did more US and dx'd Ian with skeletal dsyplasia. The heart appears normal (having a heart US this Wednesday) and the chest is measuring within normal range although on the low normal side. A very tiny section of the lumbar bone and spine are missing but the rest of the spine/back bone appears normal. The head is measuring normal but in the high normal range. From what I am able to understand at this moment is that the main concern is the chest cavity continuing to grow so the lungs can mature. I keep reading lethal this and lethal that. Are all these babies stillborn or die shortly after birth? Nikki is now 25 weeks 4 days and the baby is moving all the time. I don't want to have false hope but I don't want to not have any hope at all.

It is normal to be confused. to answer your question No. Not every form of SD is lethal. If the lungs are measuring good and the heart looks good that is a good thing. Acondroplasia is the most common of SD's. When is the next US?
